The Diving Bell and The Butterfly: Excellent movie!

Just saw this amazing movie last night and felt compelled to write about it. I highly recommend that you see it before it leaves theatres because the photography is amazing and is fit for the big screen. Read the synopsis of the movie here .

This film is amazing because of its various themes. Patience, Imagination, Reciprocity, the ability to recognize the things we take for granted sometimes, Family...all things which are are extremely important to me. Seeing these themes encompassed in one film (with very inspiring actors and actresses who were beautiful, BTW) really touched me, and I couldn't get over how superbly the story was presented. I'm definitely putting the memoirs this movie is based upon on to my ever growing book list. I am excited to get on that MARC and start reading :)

The logo is a dead giveaway....

...I got the job with Live Nation! It happened quicker than I could ever have imagined: interview on Tuesday, job offered on Wednesday (I must have said something right. Either that or they REALLY liked my suit). So, just when I was feeling like I was ready to give up, I land -- yes, my friends -- my dream job. I am totally psyched for this, and I can't wait to write about the new experiences this job will bring!

I am going to be working in the Corporate Sales/Sponsorships/Alliances division as a Sales Administrator (I believe that is what my official title is going to be). So, what does this mean? I found a really good press release here that helps explain what my department does, if you are interested. The company is HUGE with many different departments and divisions, and it is going to take some time to learn all the ins and outs of the business. I start on January 28th, and am finishing up at The Hippodrome this week. I will miss my co-workers, but I know I will be visiting them from time to time.

One catch to this excitement is that the office is DC. Yeah, kinda sucks. I love B-more, and I have no intentions of leaving anytime soon. I am going to make the commuting thing work whether I like it or not! Being on the MARC Train for 40 minutes there-and-back will give me some time with my iPod and many books I've been wanting to finish (and begin :).

I'll keep you posted on all the new excitement. Who knows, maybe Madonna and I will become BFF.

New Year, New Blog

Okay, so this isn't the most flattering pic of me ever, and it's not even from this past new years eve (ummm, yeah it's from two years ago)...but dammit, my camera broke in 2007 (thanks to a crazy night on Halloween) and this is all I got!

It's just my visual way of wishing you and yours a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now on day four of 2008, the beginning didn't start out as awesome as I'd hoped...I've been in bed ever since! Though being in bed for four days may sound awesome, it's not all it's cracked up to be (though my mom stuck it out beside me the whole time..she's the bestest). The morning after NYE, I thought I had a wicked hangover, but it turned out I had a 103 degree fever and all signs pointed to the stomach flu. Today was the first day I got my temp down to 98 and I am feeling MUCH better. Looking forward to becoming part of society again :)

I am convinced that 2008 will bring about many new changes. I said the same thing about 2007 and I was right, at least pertaining to my life: new city, new apartment, new job. Somehow, I feel this year will bring at least one of those same changes back in to my life. I've been on the job hunt for quite some time now, and am hoping my persistence will pay off in the near future. My only problem is that I am looking for a DREAM JOB. Not just something to pay the bills. Not something that I should just settle for. This does end up narrowing down the possibilities quite a bit. Some would be supportive of this outlook, others may think it's too soon to look for a perfect dream of a career. I know myself, and I know that when I love the work I'm doing, I love myself, and that, my friends, is the greatest love of all (ohhhh, so THAT'S what Whitney Houston was singing about all these years)!

I recently was contacted by the Director of HR for Live Nation about an assistant gig for the VP of Sales at their DC office. I think my "in" with the Hippodrome may have paid off here! Live Nation has been flourishing so much in the past couple of years. They are the umbrella company for so many entertainment venues and produce tours for all of the biggest names in music. I think I've found a company that combines my interests with my talents, and I am excited for my interview on Tuesday! I'll definitely let you know how it goes.

I'm hoping this blog will help me better keep in touch with you, and also inspire you to send me tidbits about what's going on in your life, too. I hope to post everything from pictures, opinions, videos and anecdotes about whatever is on my mind, so feel free to do the same!

Looking forward to a more communicative 2008 (<---one of my resolutions)! Talk to you soon :)
